For a new enthusiast I could not have asked for a better day. The condition were not ideal but the finds more than made up for it. These finds are the results of four hours searching. The funny thing is when I went into the field I had it in my head that I would like to find a celt and that was the first thing that I found.
The celt has seen better days but I'll take it anyway. The pottery pieces from this area had been carbon dated to 190 AD so I always marvel at the condition when I pick up a fragment...still lots of detail. Three of the point are broken but I really like the material. The larger point is almost see through but not quite. The scrapers, especially the small one, are very well made. The broken gorget was the last thing I picked up when I was on my way out of the field.
I have a feeling that this type of day will not be the norm but we are expecting rain tonight so I will be back at it tomorrow! Thanks for looking!
