Found Something Good Today

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to go. Water was still a couple feet higher than normal.
I was walking a gravel bar and saw this sitting on the edge. I saw the hole and decided to pick it up. It’s a first for me looks to be a pottery pendant.
I didn’t want to carry it all day so I hid it and picked it up on the way out.
Any ideas on the type let me know.

It would have been worn as jewelry. Probably Mississippian period 700 years old about.

That is a incredible rare find. It is obviously worn down by the current in the creek, still a great artifact. Very few of them exist. I vote banner.

Don't know about NA artifacts, but sure seems you made a great discovery. As far as where did it come from, I can only suggest the most logical thing to be HEAD UPSTREAM.

Looks like a really water worn "pendant " as Newnan said. Does the hole retain any drill marks? Nice one creek.

It was drilled from both sides and met in the middle. That creek is many miles long like 30.

When I saw it I actually said. What the heck is that. I tried to look it up but can’t find anything identical to it. The design might be called a clog stone style

It’s not broken. Kinda flat across the top and if laid down it’s flat.

I've found similar pieces, but not quite as cool as yours.

That's an amazing and rare find! I hope it has patterns on it, I tried magnifying it to see and thought I saw something.
