In reading the posts at T-Net I see that there is some confusion among Novice hunters and some very skilled hunters on the different type of gun locks. Here are some that you might encounter. For your help and pleasure.

Flintlock

Cap Lock, or percussion

Back action percussion

Under hammer.

C.W. area musket. note large cap nipple. common on military guns.

Percussion caps, and flints.
