I swung by the local GW and spied this unusual cake stand. It is a glass top screws onto a weighted sterling candlestick. It was only $1.99. Is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this. Very interesting. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1519817898.177456.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1519817984.837186.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1519817995.238658.webp

My wife would love that one....Beautiful piece!

I bought a candy dish that had a glass bowl that screwd in to a single weighted sterling candlestick. I tried to unload it on eBay at $12.59 running 7 days and no one wanted it. Ran it again at $8.95 and still there were no takers. Finally I just threw away the glass part and crush the base and took the clean scrap to the precious metal buyer. I think I paid like $4.95 for the whole thing in the beginning and all it really ended up being was a hassle. Still you got a good buy at a buck 99. You could probably find a glass dome cover for it at the thrift store sometime?

Nice, I also found two candlesticks by the same company for about that each at a thrift. IDK why nice sterling pieces don't sell sometimes. Yours is even a cake stand! those are popular!

Silver has gone out of fashion just like colonial and Victorian furniture and crystal. Everyone wants mid century now.

I still price my silver high for the most part, clean it up nice, list it on a 30 day ebay listing, or put it on etsy. some sells, some doesn't. Stockpile silver and when we have another major economic crisis it will skyrocket again. I am never in a hurry to give away quality items, If I found that i would clean it up, get good pics, list it for $50 and wait however long it takes. Most people buying silver want it at scrap value, but nobody ever want wood items at the price of 2x4s or plastic items for 3c a lb.

Because of this post, I found a similar item, weighted sterling bottom with a bowl on top. Never would have given it a second look without this post. Thanks!

That is awesome. Also look for frames and belt buckles.
