Got to love those tokes ! they tell a story all their own :occasion14: Congrats !

Trinidad Novelty Works Co. was incorporated in Denver in 1908. In 1911 the business was located at 108 N. Maple. Other addresses are also given for the company's location during this time. Abbott lived at either 638 or 836 Tillotson, Trinidad with his wife, Margarite.
Don.......

Very cool. I love finding tokens!

Ok it should have been obvious before, but I had found this in the yard of 638 Tillotson, so I found it in Henry E Abbotts yard!

Wow ! Cool token - just to be clear, you found the token in Trinidad ,Colorado - is that right ?

Yes,Trinidad Colorado

Yes, you apparently found it in the owner's yard but that fact wasn't obvious with only the ad in post #1 --which was an address for his business and didn't include his residence address; so, don't beat yourself up.
Don......

He was my Great Grand Father. His 2nd son (Thomas Webster Abbott) was my Grand Father. Abbott Novelty Works was a Machine Shop.

This coupon I have (handed down to me from my Grandfather) shows the address as 416. N. Commercial St. Trinidad. Of course it could have move around a bit. :)

It is amazing you found this thread!

This is one of my favorite finds so far.(found under clothes line, one of best spots to look!)
Every weekend I come to Trinidad to metal detect. I stay right next door to 836 Tillitson, the home pictured. I have shared all of this info with the homeowner who has lived there for 50 years. She said people have visited her asking about the people who used to live there. I also found 2 other tokens in same yard. One was right were your great grandfather's motorcycle is pictured! I included a picture of the house (your great grandfathers) I took today)

Alot of the times I walk up Tillotson I imagine myself as Mr. Abbott and what times must have been like. I've actually visited were his business would have been on commercial street. I've wondered why his house wasn't more lavish considering him being a business owner and such. I've wondered about how he learned to be a "safe expert". I've wondered if his dad, (your, great, great, grandfather) was from Trinidad. Another thing I want to mention that intrigues me is why no one else has found one of these tokens?

MORE PICTURES!

Those adds are interesting, all though I have trouble understand the cat one. What a creative person! Do you still have family in Trinidad?
