Had a ball...silver & gold

another road trip where weather turned to crap - had plans A & B shot
went to spot i should call old faithful - went way way out and got a deep silver quarter -
lots of old pulltabs and some thin clad - class ring was a nice surprise - 1965
it should clean up - think it was lost early in its life - stone (usually glass) does not have a single scratch on it
made my day - got a nice musketball too

That class ring is gold ? Looks more like copper or brass in the pic. I've never seen gold come out that dark before. Interesting. Nice find !

IN SALTWATER - 10K (AND SOME 14K) WILL TURN BLACK, BROWN AND MANY TIMES GREEN DEPENDING ON WHAT THE OTHER 60% OF THE RINGS METAL IS - IT SHINED UP NICE AND YES IT IS 10K

IT WAS ACTUALLY EVEN DARKER THAN THAT WHEN FOUND - HERE ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES OF A FEW OF MY OTHER "DARK" FINDS - ALL 10K
MOST ARE WHAT WE CONSIDER UP HERE AS "OLD GOLD"

ONE ON LEFT IS 10K - RIGHT IS 14K
- ALL 10K - ALL WERE DISCOLORED (AND FROM SAME SPOT AS ONE I JUST FOUND)
BEFORE AND AFTER - SHINEY ONE IS 18K - REST ARE 10K
THIS ONE I THOUGHT WAS BRASS WAS DOWN ABOUT 2 FEET - BUT MARKED 10K AND IT CLEANED UP

Nice size ring. Good luck with the return.
I usuall put the items i think maybe gold in lemon juice, cleans them up nice. Not sure how well it works on items that have been in salt water.
