I've found a spoon or two before, usually on the beach. Last night I was detecting a old manor house and the ruins around it, I've been there about 4-5 times before and never had any luck, mostly becaus it's so overgrown with weeds. I hit a big signal by one of the storage out-houses, (not the toilet!), and found these 6 horse spoons all together, barely under the surface of the garden area. I put a teaspoon in the pic to show how big they are. They're hallmarked on the back, "Gilde-Zinne 97%. My guess is that they're pewter, but I think they're pretty cool. I went to the DIY store at lunch today to get some supplies to make a holding/display rack for them for my kitchen.

I didn't think you could teach a horse table manners!

LOL, we'll see about that.
They're the biggest soup spoons, if that's what they are, that I've ever seen. They must be for somebody who's hungry as a horse. Anyway, I'd like to find out hold ols they are and more about them.

I absolutely love them! If you ever decidee to sell them I would like to be the first to know. They are gorgeous. I am glad to see you are going to display them proudly!

Nice finds, you know what they say you can lead a TH to the treasure but you can't make him dig. Or is that horse to water.

Wow! I love them! I can see why you want to make a display for them! :D

Very cool spoons. They do look pewter. Congrats!

DJ you made a haul with this dig!

I should think these would fetch a pretty sum.

Well done!

Those horse head spoons are totally awesome...love em. Yep, I agree to displaying them in a case. I did a "Google" search and the Gilde-Zinn has several pewter items listed...most in German. Did not see any spoons, but I think you found something really unique.

;) RR

That's got to be one of the most unique finds I've seen here yet..very, very nice..looks like you have the whole set..they almost look like ladles they're so big..more than likely highly collectible..your discovery is truly AWESOME..thanks for posting!

Very Cool, I looked on the internet for some info but didnt come up with much other than Pewter Spoons (or bowl spoons) around c. 1800. They might be older than that even. I found 2 pictures of spoons similar to your's without the horse tho ;)
