Half cent, copper, trash pit

Went back to where I broke my shovel and finished digging the hole I started I got down around two feet and got a piece of iron but noticed lots of shells and brick and got the top to a bottle and some pieces of plate. I plan on going back and digging a few holes I think I may have finally found a 1700s trash pit. I walked a couple feet and got a copper, not sure what it is yet need to clean it. It was almost dark and a half hour walk back so was swinging like crazy walking back through the field and walked through a site that I took my son to last week and didnt get anything. I got a signal but was to dark to see it figured it was a button. But when I got home it was a 1805 half cent. Can't wait to get back and trench the woods hope I can get a whole bottle. HH!!

Nice finds. You don't see the half cents turning up every day. Not nearly as common as the large cents. Congrats!

Great day! I know of a couple of 17th century homestead sites and I really need to find the trash pits. Those half cents don't show up often

Thanks, each time I've found a early trash pit it was from digging deep iron signals hoping for a ax or something. This is my third DB half wish I could find a DB cent lol.
