Even though they are silver,
I'v had them come up close to Nickel,
in the Can Tab rage on my Sovereign meter.
I think it was due to size.

I found both of my half dimes the same day, about ten feet apart, and they rang out at 88 on my XLT. At first, I thought I was looking for a quarter; imagine my surprise when I found this little round disk in the dirt. I'd never seen a half dime until I dug one up. Looking in my log book, I found them on April 2, 2006. What a day that was!

on my troy 3 center reads foil #3 on my disc scale
the half dime reads pull tab #4 on my disc scale

Thanks for the info. I will keep digging all signals at this site, maybe get lucky someday.

On my Sov. XS-2 with a Sunray meter:
180 is the max. reading, indicating dimes, quarters, halves, and large coppers. Zinc pennies read 176. Indians read 172.

I've found 3 half-dimes - all read around 176/zinc penny.
My silver 3-cent piece read right at the Indian # - 172.
Other machines would likely vary from these 'ratios'.
