Been hunting Native American Artifacts for nearly 3 decades, this is the first Hammer Stone I've been fortunate enough to find and preserve! Took it to work today to keep me company, lol...

Looks more like a mano. I see wear on both faces and yes they beat on the end with it too

I see many mano’s with hammering marks.
I would guess you have to reduce/break-up some things like corn kernels before actual grinding can begin.

I thought mano. When they grind corn they do indeed first smash up the kernels with the mano before grinding them. Still done that way in modern times.
