These coins were found on the same day not on a ploughed field but on grass meadows that have not been ploughed in living memory. The day was a organised dig with an internet club in the UK, [Coventry Moles]

Unusual to get hammered from meadow but it could have easily been ploughed in medieval times & then lay to rest.

I agree Crusader the first meadow where the charles coin was found certainly looked like a ridge and furrow, then henry coin was found in the meadow next to it but is quite flat with no obviouse features.

Looks like the same side three times buddy! Can you try a fourth time, LOL? The coins do resemble plowed field finds, as said, maybe it was plowed earlier and has laid unplowed for many years. Would seem to make sense to have crops near a stream/meadow in the tough medieval days as everything needed water, the oxen, the farmer and the event of a drought the crops could also be easily watered, sort of. I have no luck near streams here in Germany. HH, Mike

There is a an image Mike of the head side on another thread further down.
