Hi All,
Got 2 bits that I've no idea of (I'll put in two separate posts).
Have been given some new land to go on - had a quick walk round this afternoon.
One of my finds was this strip of metal - looks like hammered gold-leafed copper, but I could be wrong and it might be just a bit of rubbish - nice shine to it! Could be bracelet or other bend-to-fit jewelry?
About 34cm long, 3cm wide in the middle tapering to rounded 8mm ends, less than 1mm thin, weighs 48.5g
Here are the pics:

Any ideas most welcome, thanks.

Wow David you have been busy :laughing9:. Could it be a straightened arm band. Or, rather an arm band before being bent into shape :dontknow:.

I know I've seen something similar, and believe it might have been a trade item. (17th/18th century) I could also just be tired. ;D I'll take a look through my book later to see how far off I am.

Yep, I'd say a copper arm band bracelet. Breezie

Just curious... Was it flat when you found it? Or did you straighten it?

It was flat(ish) when I found it, the ends had been bent unevenly into itself though (you can still see the creases) which I foolishly (won't do it again) straightened out myself.
I took it to the Jewellers this afternoon, definitely gold on it - he thinks it could have been an inlay for a fancy saddle or inlaid to wood - but would they gild both sides if it was to be inlaid? :icon_scratch:
Still a mystery.
