Hey Tnet. So I am posting this find a bit late, but I thought it was worthy of showing...just because I'm still curious about the piece.
About a month ago, I helped a good friend move from his house in the country outside of town. While there, I detected a bit during our breaks and found a little junk here and there...(the house was built in the 1940s and was in a small town so I figured, why not?). Anyways, his neighbor came by and saw me detecting and said, "hey why don't you go try my property....there used to be an old bar there!" WHAT??!?!! Heck yeah I wanna try that property out!! Haha.
Anyways, I had about an hour left to play so I started swinging wide and scanned as much ground as I could in the short time I had. Unfortunately, I didn't find too much, (not the huge hoard of old silvers I was hoping for) but managed a 1950s Rosie, some older clad, and this big silver necklace!
Again, I'm posting this because I'm curious of its possible origins. The only "marking" on it looks to be etched or engraved on. Not stamped! It's in cursive so I don't know what it really says. MAYBE "sterling" but could also be Stanley something else. Not very clear.
I was wondering what you all think! Any ideas? This area has a huge Native American population also. One of my first thoughts was Native silver jewelry but who knows. It tested positive for silver with my test kit. Has some very faint silver tarnish but it cleaned up VERY nice!
