Sorry but it is a rock with natural erosion.

No, its not an ax

I dunno ...pic number 3 kinda looks like the peck and grind pitting .... I wouldn't rule out hand tool without closer inspection

The indention does have pecking marks but the flat sides have lines probably caused by being pushed by glaciers. It does feel right when holding it.

Here’s an axe head I found a few years ago .... it has a similar rounded profile / shape to it but there is still several key features that a usable axe needs like a groove for hafting a handle and a decent bit end that would cut well this one weighs 8lbs so imagine it needed a long handle to properly use

That is an artifact, it is a 3/4 groove ax.

It might work for fleshing animal skins.

I give you credit for asking it is smart and how to learn

I just think it's kind of funny how quick the moderators on this forum are to moving a thread to the geo fact forum. I would say that the fact that at least one other member says that it would need closer, hands on inspection, before they could rule it out as an artifact would mean something. I understand that after seeing rock after rock thought to be artifact gets old. At the same time that mindset potentially puts blinders on a person.

Why would a hand tool, which I believe I have, need a groove for hafting?
