Hand made buckle 2WW

This hand-made buckle of bronze has the
city's name Chemnitz and birth date 1887 of his owner !
It was found in Berlin.I presume it belonged to a
"Volkssturm" civil man at the last days of resistence in
Berlin 1945.
It's amazing how destiny plays its roll over so many
human beings !

I think this man made the buckle wide enough to match the military Wehrmacht belt
but that is only a presumption
It could have been also some way to be recognized in case he was wounded
or dead.... some kind of ID tag ....

Yes, curiously it's so shiny as gold,but I didn't polish it .
