I haven't posted anything here on Tnet in a long time but the other day I got about 10 rolls of dimes and I did a few rolls but they stunk horribly (don't know why) so I gave the rest to my dad and he found the only keeper! A 1961 dime in pretty decent shape. :D

Just my opinion but I don't hold much stock in finding too many keepers from "handrolld" coins. Somebody could of just rolled them up 20min before they dropped them off at the bank. I have always had great luck in just searching regular CWI boxes of dime and on average found 2 or 3 per box. If I came across some handroll's I would buy them but if they wern't available I would certenly buy a box.

Now there is a chance that you could get your hands on some old rolls from back in the day but you would have far better luck in just getting boxes that regularly produce compaired to trying to get lucky and get solid rolls at one time. Again this is just my opinion, and just as it works for finding half's, the more volume you do the better your finds will be.

I do regular pickups of $250 handrolled dimes from my local WF whenever they have enough and I do great! I've even found two silvers in one roll :laughing7:. I consistently pull around 4-5 silvers every $250. My best $250 landed me 7 silvers. No mercs yet ???

Hand rolled can be good. I got $250 in hand rolled this winter and got a solid roll of mercs.

Hey Daniel,

I will give you my my thoughts on plastic vs hand rolled. I do not search dimes, I have been working hard on nickles. I usually work about 10 rolls at a time. My job takes me all over the state so I am on the road a lot. (99 % of my searching is done in my car). I will often stop by just about any bank, I will try to find one of mine but often it is just a random bank. I ask the teller if I can trade these nickel rolls for different ones. I some time get a strange looks but they do it. I like this method as I do not have to order boxes or wait for the teller to go to the vault. I can be in and out of a bank in less than 3 minutes. Anyway this year I have found 2 V nickles :hello2: both from plastic wrap. I have scored a few dream rolls they were from customer rolled. I think it is the luck of the draw. You just can not predict what you will get. With the hand wrapped you increase the chance of a dream roll, but my V nickles and a 5 buffalo's a came form plastic.

Good Luck and keep on searching.

Gordon

I haven't done very many dimes, but I will tell you this:

1st search: $20 in hand rolls = 2 silver
2nd search: $20 in hand rolls = 1 silver
3rd search: $250 box = skunk

probably sheer luck, but a find is a find...

I went through 500 dollars of dimes, Plastic wrapped Brinks....got 2 mercs, and 5 roosevelts......

I've searched over $80,000 in dimes, 30% hand-rolled, never have found a dream roll.
