Past few hunts, I wish I knew where George's place is I'd go have a drink. It doesn't pop up on tokencatalog in Colorado. Who knows? The rusty piece is very interesting. It is a powder scoop used in hardrock mining. One end has a poker one has a scoop. I'm not sure if you would scoop out the rock after drilling or for dumping powder in the drill holes. It should be straight. I'll work on that. Happy Hunting!!

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

So jealous! What a great bunch of finds!!

I'm thinking that scoop was used to clean out the blast hole. Sometimes the bore hole gets obstructed in crumbling fractured rock conditions leaving them unable to load it with an explosive charge. I can't see something made of iron being used to clear a misfired shot.

Thank you for posting, this one seems pretty long. About how far do they drill the blast holes? I love finding these types of items up here. I'll have a friend straighten it! I wonder how they did clean out a misfires shot?
