All Treasure Hunting
It's amazing to me how many bullets and shell casings I have found over the last 2-3 years. I mostly hunt the beach and home sites and not woods or hunting areas, so, finding ammo related items has me scratching my head a bit. I've found many of them in parks and schools too! Does everyone else find this many while detecting these types of sites? The photo doesn't even show the live rounds I've found. I have a big coffee can full of those! :icon_scratch:

Plenty of NATO cal rounds; I would say there is a base near by. I get the same thing on the Borkum Island of Germany. There was a major Nazy base there for many of years. I used to also see this on St. John's island in Texas, even found a few Willy P canisters that had not been used.

I hunt in the "less advantaged" areas of town... and the parks, schools and yards are covered with .45 and 9mm bullets and shells. I routinely find 3 or 4 on a hunt. Pistols are used by the ignorant to gain "respect" in the hood. You can't have people disrespecting you, now can you? Long gun rounds are not as abundant, but you still find plenty of them around. I only find shotgun shells in places where people have been hunting, in the woods.

Interestingly enough, I have found (2) brass shell casings from a 50 caliber. I can only assume that they were souvenirs from the military.

I find a bunch too. Obviously when I hunt my wooded sites they are my number one find in numbers but I have found a live .40 round under the swings in a tot lot. Worse than that I found a pair of scissors buried pointed end up on a sled riding hill.

I have found a few in soccer fields and grandstand areas at ball parks and one in a city park that was a .762 blank casing

The number of bullets I have found is about equal to yours....also in past 3 years... But the most I've found are .50 caliber rounds, by far. I have found them in a 5 mile radius around the center of Ft. Myers, practically every lawn has at least one.
My theory? In WW2, there was an airfield trading ground, about 20 miles from town, but the officers quarters were in downtown Ft. Myers. Come New Years and 4 th of July, the city got sprayed with ordinance in celebration. Imagine that happening today?

I've heard of "hard rain" in the south, but I do believe that would take the cake! :tongue3:

I also dig tons of bullets and casings

I've dug quite a few. Keep in mind that there are areas that are used for target shooting etc. that aren't particularly likely hunting areas.\

I guess I'm not the only one! I just thought it strange to find so many at the beach (not necessarily near anything military) and private residences in the city. I would understand finding them in hunting areas or farms out in the country, but, in town? They must have been a lot more laid back about gun fire years ago! :dontknow:
