Harding to North Carolina

I'm heading to North Carolina for vacation in April. I'm relatively new to metal detecting and being from the Midwest I've never had a chance to do any real relic hunting. Does anyone have any tips, advice or locations. Thanks in advance!

Morehead city area but will go anywhere we are on vacation

I'm not familiar with the Morehead City area. I'm in western NC. If I hear of any good spots over that way, I'll post the info.
