I'm referring to the mill river disaster of 1874. I've read "In the shadow of the dam",an excellent account of this tragic event. I was wondering if anyone has had any success in that location,accessibility,etc...any input would be appreciated. Thanks. P.S.-historic map works has maps of that general area in the same year as the flood, great resource.

Hi HR,

Heading up to MA on October 1st. I was researching some sites to hunt and old buried treasure stories when I happend upon the Williamsburgh story. I am really interested in checking the area out, from Williamsburg all the way down to Florence. Thinking about seeing if my buddy up there would be game to drive the area on the 2nd. I will be staying in Agawam from the looks of it, unless we can find other accomodations. My sister-in-law is getting married, staying at my Mother-in-laws house might be ... a ... too stressfull.

Let me know if you might like to hook up. Don't know if you work or are retired? The wedding is Saturday evening, so I could probaby mess around in the morning, but would have to be back with the family after lunchtime.

Thanks, Jack

Drove the area and hunted a little around the river. Only found some modern stuff and some large piece of iron that was too big for me to dig up with the tools I had. Wished I had more time, but got sidetracked with a few other things, like my sister in law's wedding and my Father in law's property.

Wonder if any of them were part of the boiler that blew at the brass factory. Was it in that part?
