Has anyone tried for sale signs?

I've been detecting in the woods, in farm fields, and have had enough of horseshoes and farm stuff for awhile. I was thinking of taking a drive and asking permission in town at older homes with "for sale" signs. My thought being if the folks are moving, the old, "You can't take it with you", kind of applies.

Has anyone tried this, and how did it work out?

Well, for me it's worse because in the owners minds, they think we may leave scars on the lawns leaving it unattractive to potential buyers.

In the current enonomy there's probably more people moving because they have to, and not by choice, so the last thing they probably want is a stranger buzzing around.

A big no!

If you try this method and repeatedly get turned down...then consider it to be a lost cause and move on.
