Helium isn't exactly cheap.

Not cheap at all......and not a daily user concept. But for the one time gotta get it in (and leave it) it does the job.

One cubic foot of helium can lift 0.062 pound, so 161.3 cubic feet of helium is needed to lift 10 pounds. A balloon containing this amount of helium must be approximately 6.75 feet in diameter at sea level.

So one can see that most equipment would be hauled (floated in) in pieces.

How to carry detector on plane?

Please, I'm going to travel next week and I don't know how to carry the metal detector on the plane.
My doubt is...
Since my detector has an internal battery that cannot be removed, where do I take the detector?
In the handbag or checked baggage of the plane?
I ask that because of the battery.
Many thanks to all who can answer me this doubt.
Thanks and hugs to all!

When I have travelled with mine I have put it in a checked luggage bag. But this was domestically within the United States. I don't know if flying internationally introduces additional restrictions.
You should probably just call your airline.
Good luck!

Too much tree cover at my diggins to rock a weather balloon. The welding supply people I get my liquid O2 from had to paint their helium tanks pink to keep the neighborhood Airgas from stealing them.

I've also been using a hunting style back pack frame. I added a piece of wood across the bars to support more weight without tearing the fabric, but I use it now for hauling my Honda WX15 pump for my piglet. I can pretty much cram whatever I want or need on it depending on where we're going.

In fact my wife now has one too so we can pack in a lot of stuff!
