Have no clue

[VA Digger]

I found this along with some CW bullets and eagle buttons. It is closed at one end, and seems to be hollow. One side seems to be eaten away. Can anyone help out on what it might be?

It looks like an old corroded cartridge case that had a lot of back pressure when it was fired. How about a shot of he primer area as if it was a cartridge case, it might be an old rimfire type. Is it magnetic?

Maybe an old style crimp-on blasting cap. Don't hit it with a hammer until you find out it ain't.

I thought of that, either bayonet scabbard tip or maybe a sword drag tip... but have never seen one like that so I didn't mention it - do you have an example?
