Headphone issue

Just got a pristine classic III second hand for a deal, but when I put the headphone plug in all the way I get no sound. If I pull the plug out a bit I can hear the detector.

The phones work perfect, and do so in other detectors. Do I need phones with a shorter prong plug or an adapter? First Whites, so I can't go off past experience.

Sounds like your plugging a stereo headphone plug into a mono socket or a mono plug into a stereo socket.

That just might be it. I bet the jack on the classic is mono. It would be old enough I guess. Looks like adapter time. Thanks Rob.

Rob is correct you need new phones

I would say the detector needs a stereo jack installed to replace the mono one instead. That, or I could just run a stereo to mono adapter off my phone plugs.

Solder a mono jack on your headphones and you won't have to open up the detector.
