I downloaded your photos, enlarged and lighten them. After doing so, I could see your jewelry piece appears to be someone's attempt at repairing a stick pin or making a stick pin. There are several factors that led me to this conclusion: #1 There is no attachment on the back of the heart. The attachment pin could have broken or never existed. Never existed meaning it was a charm or the likes that did not have an attachment pin. #2 The stick portion is crudely attached. #3 The area on the front where the stones were set, were set in some type of hard paste/cement material instead of prongs. This is also off-center. #4 The area around the heart has the same type of paste/cement material, which has fallen off in areas. #5 The stick base has a rounded area which is not typical of true stick pins.
Basically someone tried to repair or create another piece from a plated heart.
You're most welcome! I also want to add, I LOVE finding jewelry. It doesn't matter if it is the real deal or not. I think your find is most interesting because it is different, plus it is someone's creative efforts. I'm sure if that pin could talk, it would have a great story to tell. Who knows, it could have been some young fellow trying to make his sweetie a love token. WELCOME to the forum Breezie
PP, it could be an 'attempt' at a ring. The way it is attached on the back of the heart seems more crude than some of those bubblegum machine rings, plus it would probably wear a nice blister on your finger. The wire could have come off of one of those inexpensive rings. Maybe the 'maker' took the wire from a ring to try to mount it on the heart charm. I guess we'll never really know exactly on this piece since it's a 'one of a kind.' Breezie
