I have found a 1978 dollar coin but clad, not silver, this time I thought I had one for sure.
Turned over a bit of dirt, saw a huge silver looking coin with a reeded edge, pulled it out and I see a wrecked 1922 Peace dollar coin...thrilled!
Turned it over and I see another head??...and a better looking side plus the word "copy".
Not so thrilled.

You know what this two headed coin really is?
This is something that you can buy and became available after "The Dark Knight" Batman movie came out.
It is a replica of the coin Harvey Dent, (Two-Face), kept flipping in the movie.

Made out of pewter, pretty heavy like the real coin and still a cool and unusual find but there ought to be a law against people buying and then losing these things in the dirt so some poor old detectorist can come over and dig them up and almost have a heart attack!

I also managed to find a decent amount of gas money, a 1940 wheat penny and a beautiful silver Claddah ring so it still ended up to be a good day and a nice way to end the year.

I walked all over an older park looking for areas that might hold some older coins and also others that might hold a decent amount of jewelry.
I think I found a nice jewelry area so I will head right back there on my next visit.
Both the ring and the coin were found at this spot along with a couple of small coin spills so I know people sat all around here.

This year maybe I will be lucky enough to find a real deal silver dollar...I hope!

Whoa, I think I would have thrown up my spleen at that point. I have dug up many silver dollar signals that were close but no cigar. last year, at an abandoned train depot I finally got a peace dollar, 1922, after digging up way too many smashed aluminum cans at the same sight. Only took 30 years to find one.

Congrats on a sweet silver ring, wheat, and clad finds! And on digging what could have been a peace dollar.
People are so inconsiderate as to lose that and practically give an MD heart failure, what in the heck were they thinking ? Do we go around throwing down winning fake scratch tickets? The nerve of some!!!!
A Peace dollar is out there some where with your name on it! HH!

I've gotten skunked on some jewelry before, I now just put it all in my goodie pocket, and sort it out at home. Of course one of these days I will make a complete fool of myself hopping around when I dig up what I think is the real thing, oh well I hope the general public enjoys the show! Lol!

This is one stinker of an old park.
For some reason it wants to play around with me and keeps coming up with targets that are "almost" great...but not actually.
Last month I dug this thing up at the same park within 100 yards of this fake coin.
A salesman's sample class ring.
I believe it has gold in it and is not plated, but the karat is below 10k.
I hate this park for these type of finds, but I will love it when I find some true great ones.
