All, I dug this near a farm house built in 1921 that replaced a previous house that dated to at least 1869. It measures 4" long by 1 1/2" wide by 7/8" tall. Given the dark area shown in the first and third photos, I thought it could be a handle or drawer pull of some sort. But if it is, it is very thick and heavy (0.6 pounds) for that job. It is non-magnetic except for the stud best seen at the top left of the last photo. The side opposite of the stud (photo 2) appears to have some chrome or silver plating that is peeling off. Appreciate any guesses as to ID and age.

All, maybe this will help. If you look at the second photo, imagine inserting a few fingers beneath the lower side and pulling towards you. The handle/lever would pivot counter-clockwise about the single stud on the upper right side of the back. Maybe like a car door handle or something like that. It is just that this thing is so thick and heavy I can't imagine a car manufacturer putting it on a car.

It looks like pot metal. Also appears to be broken along the thicker edge. Can't really figure out any application for the piece, though...

DCMatt, thanks for taking a look and observing the possible break along the thicker edge. Given that, I'll re-think application.

Could be a car door handle that was one of my thoughts
