I agree with Flinthunter. Looks like Iron Pyrite... which in some forms is attracted to a magnet.

As additional evidence... you said it is unusually heavy for its size. Tthe Specific Gravity of granite is 2.65, and iron pyrite's SG is 5 (about twice as heavy as granite). For comparison, the Specific gravity of cast-iron is 7.1.

Your specimen mist have been transported by a human to where you found it, because such stones are not "native" to South Florida.

Yep, the additional photos help. Definitely iron pyrite... whose distinctive "cubic" crystal form is clearly evident at several places in the photos.
