'Hello 911? I'm driving drunk'

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Police get calls about drunken drivers all the time, but rarely do they come from the alleged offender. A 17-year-old girl in Bismarck called 911 on New Year's Eve "to report herself driving under the influence," police Lt. Randy Ziegler said. "I've never heard of such a thing happening, and neither has anyone here."

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was not cited for drunken driving, Ziegler said.

"Her keys were in her purse and she was parked," Ziegler said. "She did tell us that she had been driving around for hours."

The call probably was a plea for help, he said.

Re: 'Hello 911? I'm driving drunk'

Although I put this in Comedy Central because it's Strange News

She is probably one of the Brightest 17-year-old Drunks Ever.

I Am Glad to hear they didn't Punish her for Doing the right thing
before it was too late.

She Probably got enough Crap from her Parents after she got home :(
And will probably think twice about reporting herself again.

I was going to post this, but you beat me to it, Jeff. She did the right thing, even though it was hours later. I really doubt if she will do it again.

Yep Too Many Children Dying Because Of Stupid Decisions

& Fear of the Police & their Parents.

& in some cases I guess the Parents don't care enough to
say Hey We all make Mistakes.

If you need us we are here & No repercussions

Of course you guys are right.
Now I wish I hadn't called the IRS :sad10:

PS. I didn't really call.
After all this is Comedy Central! ;D

Re: 'Hello 911? I'm driving drunk'

Unfortunately, she didn't have enough of whatever it took (conscience, common sense, or courage) for her to make that call, until after she had sobered up some!

"She did tell us that she had been driving around for hours."

Re: 'Hello 911? I'm driving drunk'

Yup, parked vehicle, keys not in the ignition, can't place her behind the wheel intoxicated. Her parents would have the cutrate lawyer ask if they observed her actually driving. The arresting office would say NO. Case dismissed. Smart officers, saved the taxpayers the cost of jailing her & the cost of running her through the court system.

I dunno', I think she just wanted a free "taxi" ride home. :icon_jokercolor:
