Hi members, im Justin from Minnesota. I have a fossil to show you all. I found this on private property in North Eastern Minnesota around 7 years ago. I'm an agate hunter, and I have been for over 25 years.
I found this in a old river bed on the Laurentian Iron Formation. And I had it in my collection for a few years before I gave it a second examination. And I know with confidence that it's a petrified human finger tip. The fingerprint is visible even. But the real proof is the cross section diagram matches to the specimen I found down to the capillary vessels even. The color is that if flesh. The fingernail is visible, the size is about the same as my pointer finger. ( I'm 6' foot 2" 230 lbs )
The area that this was found was a salt water Ocean, and volcanic activity on the ocean bottom. Also glaciers covered the area, any land would have permafrost no doubt. Perfect conditions for to occur i imagine. Have a look and thanks for your help and thoughts.
