Just thought that I should drop in a line to say hello and quickly introduce myself.
My name is Chris de Laat and I live in Port Colborne Ontario Canada.
Have been detecting for years (started mid 80’s as a kid)off and on kids and bad marriages have taken priority at times.
I love to hunt for 1812 artifacts but don't really get out as much as I would like.
Hopefully that will change soon.
Not really into the beach thing…never had a lot of luck with it.
However I do like hitting a couple select parks when I can.
I guess you could say that old stuff is in my blood.
When I was younger both my parents got me going while finding dumps and filled in outhouses behind our 1850’s home.
Since then I have restored with the help of my parents an 1845 Victorian home.
A couple of my better finds are oldest coin 1816 wellington half cent token
Oldest silver 1817 shilling.
Have a ton of musket balls and a few grapeshot, also have found a few buttons.
Sad to say the best buttons I had to but from Ebay both Civil War and War of 1812.
Oh an have also found a few rings.1 beauty with a nice diamond!!!woohoo.
I have owned a few detectors in the last few years.
Fisher 1212x,1280 and 1266x.
I know own a Whites Spectrum XLT.
Always looking for tips and advice.
If your ever in Canada look me up!
Hunt and a coffee invite is there.
Also planning a trip to Lexington Virginia with my father for the last week in April.
I’m not gonna hold my breath but…….
If anyone who reads this knows of a spot they are willing to share while we are down that would be greatly appreciated
Sorry for the rant. Hope I didn’t bore you.
Anyhow Cheers from Canada!!
Chris!
