Hello from Westchester County, NY

Hello all!

So glad I found this forum! Great information! I'm new-ish to the hobby, I did have a Radio Shack MD years ago. My best find was a token for a trolley line that no longer exists! To me it was an awesome find. Lots of loose change.. to be honest I never put too much effort into the hobby then.
Long story short, 20 years later, I'm looking to get another MD. I have a budget of around 300, still not sure of what to get... 350, F2, Delta 4000..or is there a Whites in my range? Does frequency really make the difference? Whats the deal with swing speed and faster recovery? If I don't swing it fast enough or slow enough, I might miss something? I'm still a little confused. I want one with a display.. any way.. input from forum folk is always appreciated.

I have a few spots lined up, I'm anxious to get out there.

You could also buy used and get more detector for your dollar. There are some good deals in the classifieds here. Good Luck.

Thanks all! I went with the F2 to start, well in my budget. Now I have some extra gas $. LOL

I am joining local club, maybe an opportunity to try some higher end models.

I will post my first finds, still have lots of practice ahead of me.
