My name is Shawn and I am new to detecting and this site. My family thought I was insane when their 40 yr old father/husband asked for a metal detector for Christmas! Well I'll show them! Lol
Anyway, I'm hoping to meet some friends on this site and learn some great tips on this fantastic hobby!
BTW my very first coin find was down on Higbees Beach was a 1938 Mercury Dime! Now I'm addicted!

Thank you all for the great comments! I do consider myself reeeaallyy lucky to find this silver 5 mins after hitting the beach! Of course I haven't found much since then but that's how it goes I guess!!!

Welcome from PA., My wife and kids had the same thoughts when I said I was going to re-start detecting. The best experience was when we were at the park and my wife commented (rather loudly) she finds more change in the dryer, after about 10 minutes I had found 15.00+ in spendable change, (park must have never been detected). Wife backed down and kids are hooked!
