Hello and Thanks to the forum. Really helpful information for me. I just got a basic metal detector (Discovery 3300), having fun in the yard with it. Found two quarters, a dime , a penny and some trash. All were what I thought was pretty deep. Around 6 inches and seemed to have been there a while. I found a sardine can that had a price of 25 cents on it also. Called the local Parks and Rec in Jefferson Parish but they said that Metal Detecting was not allowed. Going to see if family members will let me practice on there yards. Been a woodworker, driftwood collector, and roadside trash(treasure) inspector since the 1990's. Looking forward to learning more. 8-)

Good luck on your hunts with it:icon_thumright:. The 3300 is a good detector I use an 1100 and dig up some pretty cool finds.
