Help any idea what this is? Definitely had a purpose and not broken seems to have a raised stamp on end or could be rust but that area is recessed. Any ideas? Dug very deep 10”, Thanks for any ideas!

A little more info was deep in woods high area of wetland near brook 10+“ deep area dates back at least to early 1800s. 50 ft away found 1864 2C maybe cart or wagon part. Could be anything thanks for all the suggestions!

Shot in the dark, but at first glance, it reminds of the stamps they used when they sealed the back of old letters with wax.
