help cibola for gold

I did a air test with small gold ring wife has.I had to put the discriminate level at iron to pick it up.Is this normal for Cibola,I have been using it at the line at nickel and still dig iron at times.Oh and I am newbie.I also have a 5.75 concentric coil on the way,thinking maybe this will help.

Depending on the thinness of the ring and it's overall size, you might have to drop down to the foil range. Have you tried testing in supertuned?

Thin gold can show up in iron on up on all brands of detectors. Most gold will be foil through tabs. If you have time at your site and you want gold you HAVE to dig trash. Set your disc to just ignore a small nail. Then dig all your beeps. But if you have limited time or you get tired of digging just crank up the disc.

Mine doee the same thing. It seems the dial is off a bit. If I set the disc at nickels it misses them, just below nickels and its fine. Same with the gold items I've tested. It has to be below nickels to find any, although large iron will still give you fits!!!

You can loosen and reposition the disc knob - or any other knob to suit your settings.
