Help dating bricks

I've found what I now believe to be an old brick cistern next to my house. I would like to know, at least approximately, how old the cistern is. I believe the original house was built in 1830 and then had a few additions put on. I'm not sure when all of the additions were put on, but I would say they were all done before 1900. I've searched around this forum and around the web and I haven't found any way to estimate the age of the brick that the cistern I made of. I'm thinking this is probably the best way to estimate when it was built. Anybody have any info on dating old bricks?
