Help I.D. This Find

Dug this where I've found other mid/late 1800 early 1900 items. Any ideas ? The small piece appears to have been brazed to the top of the larger piece at one time and is some kind of clip or loop......

it could be a old bolo tie.....with part of the holder / clip....
