While detecting my new property (previously uses such as grazing and possibly apple orchard), I found something metal about 18" deep.
It is perfectly round, parallel to the ground, about 8" in diameter, and makes my Garret Max & pinpointed scream. The only unusual think, I can't see metal yet. The top of the "disc" appears to be and old timey cement mix, primarily composed of pea gravel. I've dug about 1/2" down the sides, and the thing is SOLIDLY in the ground.
My first thought.... Obviously a coffee can full of gold that that was mortared closed before stashing. 😂 My worst fear: disturbing the cement and finding an improperly plugged deepwell that I will have to have properly plugged at my own expense.
What are your guesses?
I will have time to inspect further by at least Friday, when I will take my pipeline probe and try to run it down the sides of the object; Hopefully getting an idea of size and depth.
I will attach the crummy picture I took, but keep in mind, this was the best I could do at 18" deep when starting a hole looking only for a shallow coin. Lol.
