I have posted this under another topic, but thought I'd try "What Is It?" too.
I found this piece about 10" down in the sand on a beach a few miles north of St. Augustine. It has defied seasoned relic hunters and Spanish artifact enthusiasts. Anyone out there among us TH's have any ideas?
It read as silver on my old detector, but it has two rivets. It is 4.5" long and has some sort of gold or bronze embossing I can make out a lion under a microscope and a ~. It is badly pitted as you can see, with greenish white corrosion all over. Thanks, guys!
