Help identifing artist and origins please

Looking to see if the experts on here can help me finally ID the artist and origins of these 2 paintings. Both are 15.5 inches across.

What are the frames made of... wood or ?

I take it there is no signature on front?

Is it original artwork, and if so, what do you think the medium is?

Are you willing to take them out of the frames to see if there are other markings?

Well Montana Jim I'm going to mark this one as solved. The frames are wood, but upon cracking the back and taking a look inside (which i was always leery of doing) i have discovered the pictures are pages out of an old book 1939 and marked C H 918. Thanks for the suggestion should have done that years ago.
