Kinda girly looking but that was popular 1890-1910 or so. I like the flask lid but it should have chain or swivel to prevent losing the cap. Maybe a match safe?

I am guessing now it was some kind of flask or canteen cap. Possibly to hold some type of liquid. Hence the cork gasket

Why would they internally thread a button, seems a little complex for a buttun.

Looks like a chain could have been clamped in that fitting in the inside.
