Help identifying a rock ?

Hello! I am hoping someone here can help me identify a rock? that I have. It belongs to a friend who believes it to be agate. To me, it looks like someone had playdough and crumpled it up in their hand and left it to get hard. It has the perfect shape and placement of where fingers would be around it. Because of the odd shape, he doesn't want to cut it open. I'm going to attempt to post a few pictures and I appreciate any opinions or suggestions on where else to look.
It is approximately 3 inches long, 3 inches wide, and almost 2 inches thick.

Plug N Play, thank you for replying. Do you know where I would go about attempting to find a buyer for it? He is really excited about the odd shape and marks and thinks he should expect a large amount of money for it. I have no idea AT ALL. So I'm trying to do the research. Thanks again.
