Hello,

Any idea what these may be? They were found on the beach.

I think that the coin/button is old.

What is your best guess on material? Looks brassy or bronze? Interesting items.

The coin is likely brass. Someone thought it was gold.

The latch is copper.

Moe...need to know some idea on the scale of the circular object.

Looks like the thing that latches to the combination on a safe to open it. Don't know how or why it would be on a beach, but I have a safe and that wierd shaped thing must be that. I can probably get a picture of it by next week.

Pcolaboy,

Here are 2 pics for size reference (taken before cleaned).

Moe,

maybe a cuff button?? , howmany grams? ( weight ) . is the mark a " star"

Thanks Sapper23,

It is about 25mm in diameter. It weighs 6-7g. The symbol could be a star. It has 6 points.

What period do you guess it may be from?

HH!

Moe,

sorry,, date?? Take it to John P. if, and when you a chance.

HH,

The symbol looks like a clover leaf to me. Possible?

Its either a counterstamp like the ones on the 1652 transitional coins or a star of Lima.

Moe,

The button looks 16-17th century. It may be gilded.

V

To me, it looks like a 2-point decorative pin.

The other piece looks like one of the inside pieces of a large naval door latch. I've repaired a few of them, and i've seen pieces that looked almost exactly like that which came out of the massive latches used on the engine room doors.

Heres what I think the other thing is.
