I think the metal and design says they aren't colonial, but if you found them at a site that dates to colonial times maybe. Are these that old.:

Did they make what looks like a formed buckle (a void between the front and back or not solid) during colonial times?

Nice buckles Ant....the area I found these definitely had colonial era activity. Have no idea how old they may be, either way happy to have found them
