Help Identifying coin!!! might be silver

I found this coin in my register today at work and I have no idea where the coin comes from or the year it was made. Any help would be appreciated.there appears to be a bird on the front and a 5 on the back if that helps.

VPNAVY is right...1936-1946 Mexican 5 centavos. Looks like yours is a first year!

Mexican 5 centavos for sure. Only thing unsure is the date--located above the "5". It will be 1936,'37,'38,'40 or '42; the extent of the series. Mintages ranged from 3M ('38) to 49M ('37). 4 grams, copper-nickel; 20.5mm. Highest value of the bunch would be the '38; about $4 retail in VF condition. Unfortunately, this piece is not even in F condition but certain can make you wonder what its travel path was to your register.
