Hi folks ~ for the life of me, I can't figure out what this is. Found on a beach with lots of crinoids and fossiliferous limestone, etc. I've found plenty of cool fossils on the beach and have never seen anything like this. Anyone have ideas?

Thanks! It sure looks cool, but to be honest, it could be just ... a rock. So I figured I'd come to the experts. :)

Not a Petoskey.
I got an ID on the rock from a geologist friend. He says:

"My best guess is that the stone is silty sandstone and the oval formations are fossil limpet shells that have had their conical tops removed by beach erosion."
