Help Identifying pottery

Hello, normally i wouldn't post something like this, especially since its marked on the base. The pottery that I have is marked Mexico on the bottom, but why does it scream Native American. in my opinion it does not resemble Mexican pottery that Ive seen in the past. Could someone help me out with this.

It's a collectible tourist piece made in Mexico to resemble US pottery types and some Mexican types. Lots of folks collect it. It's not especially old.
