Help identifying these

Not really sure what any of these are. I've seen stuff that look similar to the first 2 pics and they said it might be an arrow straightener. The second pic looks like a toe. Not sure what it might be but it has been polished. Any thoughts on these or the other pics. Hope you guys and girls aren't getting tired of all my post. Seems like I've put a lot up here the past few days. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about what I have and get back into hunting again. It's been about 15 years since I've even looked for a rock so I'm excited about getting back out there. I was very young when I did hunt and didn't really know what I was looking for so I'm sure I passed by lots of good stuff. Anyway, thanks for all the info.

The item in the first two pics is a piece of petrified wood. I have no idea about the others.

First item looks to be a shaft straitening tool, last one a celt. In between - I wouldn't guess.

I think the first one is a shaft abrader. The second one looks like a petrified big toe. The others could be hide scrapers?

Afternoon,

Interesting group of items.

1) That could be a shaft straightener, but the groove doesn't appear polished as would be the case if it were used enough for the groove to have been made from usage...

2) Looks like some type of petrified palm or cactus wood.

3) LOL Dinosaur Toe

4) Looks like a chunk of shale to me

5-6 Geofacts

7) Appears to be a celt with a fire spawl on it.

Thats my opinion on what you have for what its worth.

You have found some really nice points but all of these are geofacts. Jeff

HeadHunter, I believe these are all debateable, except the first one. To me, it is obvious that it is an artifact. It is a shaft abrader. A shaft straightener was a tool with a hole that they stuck the shaft through, that gave them leverage to straighten the shaft. The abrader would sand the shaft. Just my opinion.

Hey Beanman,I,m here to learn. Youi may be correct. I must be honest I didnot know much about these shaft things before,but I,ll be more careful for sure the next time I kick at a rock.By the way Headhunter YOU HAVE FOUND SOME BEAUTIFUL ARTIFACTS THAT I would be proud to call my own Jeff

Agree on the top two being 'petrified wood'
The dimples are where 'rootlets' grew out of the main
stem, the groove in the back contained the heart of the
plant.
Age is 250-300 million years, or 6,000-10,000 years
(Biblical version).
I have seen the shadows of the rootlets in the matrix
rock, they look like X-rays.

Thanks for the post Fossis. I was not saying that it wasn't a fossil, I just think that it is also an artifact. If you have one with a more pronouced, off colored groove, not found at a indian site, I will submit. As Atlantis says, location, location, location, and it looks like HeadHunter has some great locations. I also believe the others are artifacts too, but I'm a little goofy.
