Looks like something I wore for protection back in the martial arts competitions! 😊 Just kidding of course. Looks like a ladle for a crucible set up. Pouring to molds. Hopefully someone can help.👍🏼
 

Maybe someone punched some holes in a ladle to fish bugs or debris out of the spring water?

I agree, it looks like some sort of ladle / strainer. Neat find.
 

Was hoping someone could help out with what this item may be, or what it is called. Located near an 1800s Spring House. Handle appears to be broken, and a small section has been hand cut/carved out to form a small lip. It’s iron, and I ran it through electrolysis. Size next to horse shoe for reference. Any input?
